Our Work

Emergency Shelter

The We Care Program (WCP) provides shelter services for 49 homeless men a night. These individuals fall at or below 80% of the area median income and are ineligible for assistance from any other social service agency. The shelter opened September 1, 2017 and is open seven days a week from 6:15 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The We Care Shelter provides a warm, safe environment for individuals who would otherwise be sleeping on the street.

Permanent Supportive Housing

This program is for individuals who are chronically homeless. We provide long-term affordable housing, case management, and support to our clients. Our objective is for participants to remain housed, improve health and lead a more stable life. For more information, call 209-664-2003, or send an email to theodora@wecareturlock.org. Please be aware that eligibility for the program does not guarantee that financial assistance will be awarded.

Homeless Prevention Program

Preventing households from losing their housing is an important strategy for ending homelessness. This program can assist individuals and families who are at risk of becoming homeless. The program provides one-time rental assistance and referrals to additional stabilization services to eligible households experiencing a hardship or short-term emergency that has placed them at risk of homelessness. Call 209-664-2003 or send an email to theodora@wecareturlock.org to find out if they qualify. Please be aware that eligibility for the program does not guarantee that financial assistance will be awarded.

Affordable Housing Program

We Care Program owns a four-unit apartment complex managed by Landlords Property Management that is providing long term affordable housing options to families with low income who are in need in our community. We are proud to partner with the City of Turlock, with funding being provided through the City of Turlock’s HOME Investment Partnership Program and Community Development Block Grant Program.

Rapid Re-housing Program

This program serves eligible individuals and households who are literally homeless. Our goal is to rapidly move these individuals back into permanent housing making their homeless experience as short as possible. Families or individuals will work with their case manager and create a reasonable plan that will enable them to keep their housing long-term. Eligible participants receive help with security deposits, first month’s rent and utility deposit to enable them to move into new housing. We Care Program only assists with rentals that are at or below the Fair Market Rate (FMR) for the Turlock area.

Homeless Hygiene Center

Through our hygiene program, we provide individual adults and families experiencing homelessness in encampments or on the street, a place to do laundry and take a shower.  The center is open Monday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  We operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
