What if we want to provide food but not serve?
Sign up on the calendar for the date you want to provide the meal. Bring the food to the shelter by 5:45 p.m. Staff will serve the meal.
Where should food be prepared?
We suggest that meals be prepared off-site as we may not have sufficient cooking utensils to meet your needs.
How many people would be served?
Your family or group will purchase, prepare, and serve dinner for approximately 50-55 people.
How many volunteers can participate in a group?
The number of participants can be anywhere from 4-10 people in your family or group.
What can we bring for dinner?
Volunteers can bring any of the following: main dishes, side dishes, vegetables, fruits, and drinks.
Hot meals or cold meals?
Hot meals are suggested as the majority of those being served have spent the day outside in cold weather.
What drinks can we bring?
Volunteers can bring any of the following drinks: milk, water, and/or tea (please no sugary drinks).
When should volunteers arrive?
Families and groups need to arrive at the location no earlier than 6:40 p.m. and prepare to set-up and serve dinner by 7:00 p.m.
Can we also bring breakfast food?
Breakfast bags can be brought for the following morning. We suggest energy bars, fruits, bottled water, and milk for breakfast.
Do we need to bring our own gloves?
Latex gloves are provided and need to be worn by all individuals handling food.
